Lakeland, Florida- Florida Citrus Mutual?s Board of Directors announced its elected officers Friday for the 2012-2013 season.
Mark Wheeler, Chief Financial Officer of Wheeler Farms Inc. in Lake Placid, will serve as Mutual?s president during the year.? Wheeler succeeds Victor Story Jr., who will remain on Mutual?s Executive Committee.
?Over the past two years Vic Story has done a tremendous job as president of Mutual,? said Michael W. Sparks, executive VP/CEO of Florida Citrus Mutual in a release. ?Mark has a tough act to follow but I know he is up for the challenge and I look forward to working with him.?
Wheeler is a third generation citrus grower and a fifth generation Florida agriculturalist and sits on the Board of Wheeler Brothers Inc. He is also on the Ag First/Farm Credit Board of Directors. Wheeler has a BS in Finance from Troy University in Alabama
Wheeler said in a release that he is "humbled to be elected President."
The elections took place at Mutual 64th annual meeting, which was held at the Florida Citrus Industry Annual Conference in Bonita Springs on June 14, 2012.
